Our Scout Hall and grounds are a vital space not just for our own Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, but for many community organisations.
With COVID, we’ve had to do a lot of work, to do our best to keep everyone who uses our Hall and grounds safe.
A huge amount of work has been done by our own volunteers, who we’re so grateful to. We’ve been planning and implementing safety measures like signage, hand sanitisers and scheduling of sessions. Most recently, a work party spent two weekends cleaning & sealing our wooden Hall floor – so it collects less dust and is easier to clean effectively.
But not all the work can be done by our volunteers – like cleaning, because of the volume of work, and when it must be done. Under COVID, we’ve had to introduce more intensive cleans, done more frequently. It’s a very important part of what we’re doing to keep everyone who uses our hall safe, but it does increase our cleaning costs a lot.
So we’re very grateful to have had support from Foundation Scotland, who’ve recently provided us with a grant to help with these costs – thank you, it’s a big help!
